Abstract

Foaming polyethylene (EPE) and foamed polypropylene (EPP) were tested in drop-weight experiments to study the dynamic mechanical behavior of polymeric foams. With the proposal of a method to obtain stress-strain curve under certain strain rate, constitutive model of EPE was established in Low Density Foam. Comparison was made between real experiment and simulation results and the accuracy was validated. Based on the constitutive model, energy absorption and protective performance of polymeric foam was evaluated in refrigerator package drop experiments.
