Abstract

Aim: To present principle and structure of automatic monitor of cutting tool states. Methods: On the basis of monitoring scheme of liquid acoustic emission (AE) and motor current sensing, the monitoring principles for cutting tool states on condition of different cutting loads were discussed. The hardware and software structures of the intelligent monitor were presented. Results: It can communicate with machining system controller through parallel interface to automatically monitor cutting tool states. Conclusion: High ratio of monitoring succession and reliability were verified by lots of experiments and applications so as to be applied actually.
