Abstract

Aluminum foam material is widely used in multilayer energy absorbing structures because of its good damping and energy absorption properties. It is made into sandwich layers of multilayer structures to reduce the destruction of explosive load. In order to investigate the attenuation of shock wave in aluminum foam, one-dimensional shock wave theory is used to analyze the propagation of shock wave in aluminum foam material, and the energy dissipation in the process of aluminum foam compression is considered. The calculation details and relevant factors of shock wave propagation and attenuation are depicted by the calculation examples.
