Study of energy management system of electric vehicle

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

According to the energy requirements of the EV bus, the control strategies of the energy management system for the dynamic battery and ultra-capacitor EV bus is studied. The control strategies are built with the fuzzy control theory and the simulating system is accomplished with Matlab Simulink. Simulation results show that the velocity control strategy and current limit control strategy have their own merits in improving vehicle dynamical performance and avoiding over charging or discharging. Average energy consumptions with and without ultra-capacitors are calculated in urban driving cycle and suburb driving cycle, respectively. Calculation results show that average energy consumption of the bus with ultra-capacitors in urban driving cycle is descended, however, in the suburb driving cycle, it isn't descended. The simulation conclusion is verified by experiment of the low floorboard EV bus.
