Abstract

The power supply mode of distribution network is being reformed cumulatively with the development of smart distribution grid. Soft normally open point (SNOP) refers to power electronic devices installed in place of a normally-open point, also called tie switch. In a medium-voltage distribution network, SNOP provides an alternative power supply mode and brings numerous benefits to the distribution network. Firstly, the benefits and theory of SNOP are presented. Secondly, the operation boundary and optimization model of distribution network with SNOP are proposed. Finally, the potential advantages of SNOP are verified by comparing with network reconfiguration from static and dynamic power flow optimization, as well as real-time adjustment.
