Abstract

A CA488 gasoline engine was refitted as a compressed natural gas (CNG) engine and matched with a proper variable geometry turbocharger (VGT). Performance simulations of the CNG engine system was carried out by taking advantage of some software. Simulation results show that the CNG engine can reach the same power output as the CA488 gasoline engine does if the variable geometry turbocharger system is controlled accurately.
