Abstract

Aiming at the phenomenon that thermal crack commonly occurs at the edge of the piston with the toroidal combustion chamber, the quarter model of this kind of piston has been built and its temperature field, thermal stress in steady-state also been analyzed by applying ANSYS software. The method that made groove at the edge of the piston with the toroidal combustion chamber and helped to reduce the thermal stress and thermal crack has been discussed. The simulation result showed that making proper arc groove at the edge of the piston with the toroidal combustion chamber is effective and excellent.
