Silicon-based on-chip microdisk resonators for integrated microwave photonic applications

Abstract

We report two novel on-chip microdisk resonators exhibiting a single whispering-gallery-mode operation. By weakening the interaction between the confined light and the side-walls, the Q-factor is elevated. Their applications in integrated microwave photonics are discussed.
