Abstract

Conventional wideband beamforming methods can only form sharp null in azimuth direction and elevation direction for interference, which will degrade severely in presence of rapidly moving interference. To solve this problem, a robust wideband beamforming method of planar array is proposed. In proposed method, a taper matrix which can broaden the null in azimuth direction and elevation direction is firstly calculated. Then, the array covariance matrix for two dimensional (2D) planar array is reconstructed based on the taper matrix and the sample covariance matrix. Finally, the weight vector of wideband beamforming is calculated based on the constrained least mean-squares algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by numerical simulations.
