Abstract
In the presence of pointing errors, a direction search based robust Capon beamformer is proposed. The direction of the desired signal is first estimated by searching for the local maximum of the array output power using the first-order Taylor series expansion of the array steering vector, and then the robust Capon beamformer is developed with the estimated direction as the presumed one.
