Abstract

Diluted magnetic semiconductor nanocrystal (DMSNC) is a new type of semiconductor materials. Because of their special optical, electrical and magnetic properties as well as their promising applications in various aspects, DMSNCs have drawn great attentions and the research on the DMSNCs has developed quickly in recent years. In this article, the main research progress and doping mechanism of the Mn 2+ doped II - VI ZnS, ZnSe, CdS and CdSe DMSNCs prepared by colloidal method were reviewed. In addition, the problems existing at present and the future development of the DMSNCs were also discussed.
