Abstract

In order to extend the present NCS color space notations, the relationships between CIE1976 L* a* b* and NCS notations are showed. Based on these relationships, the NCS notations are extended from representing every tenth unit of blackness and chromaticness to representing every unit of them. Applying spline interpolation and linear interpolation algorithm, the CIELAB tristimulus values of the new notations extended are calculated and the NCS notations are plotted in the CIELAB. The accuracy of the interpolated data is evaluated using the color difference formula of CIE1976 L* a* b*.
