Abstract

Metallic lithium-thionyl chloride battery has the risk of electrolyte leakage in civilian and military industry. Aiming at this case, we propose a soft-measurement technology to establish a leakage monitoring model by detecting the change of pressure and temperature in battery tank. Based on the above model, we have designed an electrolyte leakage monitoring system. When the electrolyte leakage occurs, the system could alarm and reveal the amount and location of leakage. We also have designed a real-time monitoring interface to monitor the leakage of the electrolyte in the battery tank on line. Therefore, the sensor failure alarm, high temperature alarm and high-pressure alarm could be achieved. This scheme could monitor the real-time leakage of electrolyte online in the battery compartment. Experimental results show that the monitoring system works very well and has wonderful application prospects of monitoring the leakage of gas and liquid in confined spaces.
