Abstract

The electrochemical characteristics of MH/Ni battery during the charge-discharge cycles were studied, and the relationship between battery charge process and factors such as charging current and way of charging was also investigated. Why the inner pressure characteristics of battery changed was studied too. The results indicate that the attenuation of cycle performance is related to the increase of inner pressure and the erosion of electrode material. On the other hand, inner pressure during the small charge current increases more slowly and much lower than that of the large current charging. The inner pressure characteristics of pulse charging are much better than those of DC charging. All experimental results show that the pulse charging is more effective.
