Abstract

The brake resistance is a key component to ensure the safety and reliability of Hybrid Electric Vehicles(HEV). The mathematical models of electric brake system and control methods of brake resistance are researched in this paper. The key system models including motor, batteries, current bus and so on which effect the control of brake resistance are established and the switch control and linear control methods of brake resistance are compared by the simulation and analysis. The results indicate: the mathematical models can reflect the state properties of electric brake system; the brake resistance can consume the superfluous regeneration current and the impact to the system working state and life which introduced by the exorbitant bus voltage is avoided; the switch control and linear control methods both can realize the effective control. The switch control is simple and can be implemented easily. The linear control is accurate and smooth. The mathematical models and control methods are proposed by the research.
