Abstract

A strength-stress model for the reliability of pyrotechnical devices is proposed based on the mechanical characters of the products and one-shot product reliability assessment theory. A method for the reliability assessment of pyrotechnical devices is presented. In this method the products are tested under rigorous conditions. If they can still work without failure under such conditions, then the reliability in normal conditions can be calculated through a formula. In this way, high reliability of products can be assessed (e.g. 0.9999) with only a limited number of tests (4-5 samples). This method can reduce the large expenses needed in testing pyrotechnical devices.
