Abstract
Method for qualitative analysis and quantitative calculation of dependent failure were researched. The secondary failure and common mode analysis in crank rod system were presented. The β factor was estimated with UPM (unified partial method) in quantitative analysis, and the system reliability was calculated using expanding FTA (fault tree analysis). The dependent failure analysis and traditional reliability analysis methods were integrated. The research provides a new idea for reliability analysis of other mechanical products.
