Abstract

To solve problems of imprecise precision and low flexibility in traditional tabletop AR systems, a new design of video see-through tabletop system was presented. The system registration and real time tracking are realized by the mechanical registration algorithm, and the original relative position relationship between the camera and the world reference frame is confirmed by the system origin calibration algorithm. In the experiment, the real scene was shot by the CMOS camera and the virtual image superimposed by the embedded system. The whole image containing the real and virtual objects is displayed on the LCD real-time. The virtual object-an arrow pointed to the position of the cup exactly. Moreover, it is realized real-time tracking with the change of the viewpoint. Experimental results showed that the video see-through tabletop system meets the precision and speed requirements very well.
