Abstract

Based on the Su's T-burner test, the numerical simulation method has been used to study the propagation of pressure wave after a pulse, aiming to explore the pressure waveform characteristics after pulse and to provide a corresponding theoretical guidance to the future experiments. The calculated results are consistent well with the experimental values. Several cases of different waveforms stages after pulse have been presented to investigate the waveform conversion process. The results indicate that there is a waveform conversion process in the combustion instability process. The characteristics of this process has been analyzed and categorized. The conversion process has been divided into five steps in the whole process. There are great differences in both pressure and temperature waveforms in different transition stage. This differences may lead to some significant impact on the final result in the related test and the characteristics of the chamber. In order to predict the combustion instability of the SRM accurately, the waveform of the chamber pressure is necessary to consider.
