Abstract

Recent advancements of research on Self-Toughening SisNi ceramics were reviewed. The growth mechanism and all kinds of effect factors on Self-Toughening SiaN.i ceramics, as well as mechanical and physical properties, such a.s the fracture toughness, strength, Wciball modulus, Ji-curve behavior, fatigue behavior, creep behavior, oxidation behavior, thermal shock resistance, thermal conductivity were discussed and analyzed. The key technologies of toughening for Self-Toughening 813N.J ceramics arc the control of the size of elongated SijN.i grains and the proper choice of glass phase.
