Abstract

The broad implementation of cloud computing and Internet-of-Things (IoT) is driving current networking control system towards an advanced level. Mobile computing further increases the complexity of the deployment. However, the complicated system also has brought more privacy issues into the field. One of the problems of obstructing mobile apps is that contemporary coarse-grained access control embedded in the operating system provides limited privacy protections. As an emerging technique, edge computing is an alternative for speeding up manipulations and tying up the connected devices via the enhanced utilization of the computing resource and the strengthened flexibility/ability of the control. In this paper, we propose a novel privacy-preserving approach that uses a multi-layer access control in edge computing to enhance the level of the privacy protection. Our approach models a hierarchical classification deriving from the protection objectives. Experiment evaluations accomplished by this work also provide evidence for demonstrating the adaptability of our approach.
