Abstract

The uniform Ag nanoclusters were prepared by using G5.0-OH PAMAM dendrimer as template under ultraviolet radiation. Transmission electron microscopy, UV-Vis absorption and resonance scattering were used to characterize the obtained Ag nanoclusters. The results showed that the size and size distribution of the prepared silver nanoclusters depend on the concentration of PAMAM dendrimers, the molar ratio of silver ions and PAMAM dendrimers and the reaction time. On the basis that the diameter of the obtained Ag nanoclusters is smaller than the calculation diameter of G5.0-OH PAMAM, it could be suggested that G5.0-OH PAMAM dendrimer act as 'inner template'. Influences of synthesis conditions on the photoluminescence efficiency of Ag nanoclusters were investigated. The PL of Ag nanoclusters is tunable by changing the size of nanoclusters.
