Abstract

The two-component polyurethane adhesives were prepared with polyetherpolyol, toluene diisocyanate and reactive flame retardant dibromoneopentyl glycol. The properties of polyurethane adhesives, such as viscosity, flame retardancy, mechanical property and thermal property, were characterized. Limiting oxygen index (LOI) analysis indicates that the oxygen index of the polyurethane adhesives prepare d by polypropylene glycol 1000 (PPG1000), polypropylene glycol 2000 (PPG2000) and poly(tetramethylene glycol) 1000 (PTMG1000) is 28.4, 28.6 and 29.7, respectively. The polyurethane adhesive prepared with PPG1000 shows an excellent tensile strength, while the polyurethane adhesive prepared with PTMG1000 has the longest pot life, the best thermal stability and the lowest glass transition temperature.
