Abstract
A novel magnetic chitosan nanoparticle with monodisperse and superparamagnetism was prepared by the in-situ precipitation reaction in alkaline solution. The Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and vibrating specimen magnetometer (VSM) were used to characterize the nanoparticles. The results showed that the mean diameter of the magnetic chitosan nanoparticles was about 7nm, and the saturation magnetization of them was 73.5emu/g. Comparing to activated carbon, the magnetic chitosan nanoparticle is a kind of potential adsorbent with higher adsorption capacity and faster adsorption-equilibrium rate in treatment of azo dye.
