Abstract
The paper presents a static model for the prediction of surface errors in face milling. Effects of the integrated workpiece fixture system's elastic deformation have been taken into account. The model can be used for the prediction of complex workpiece geometry in face milling. In order to obviate long computing involved in finite element analysis, a quick algorithm has been put forward. A software package has been developed to predict the machined surface errors, and can be used as a part of CAD/CAE/CAM packages. Good agreement has been found between predicted values and verification results.
