Prediction and test of the flow characteristic of radial vaned turbine

Abstract

The conventional turbine flow calculation method is introduced and its shortcomings are analyzed first. Then through studying the relationship among the gas parameters along the flow channel of the turbine, a method of turbine predicting the flow characteristic using equations is presented. Steps to calculate the flow characteristics of the turbine using this method are also given. Combined with a series of tests, an experimental formula of flow coefficient is established. Finally, flow characteristics of two radial vaned turbines are predicted using this method, comparison with tests shows that this method is effective for radial vaned turbines.
