Abstract

The title compound, {C3H12N2 ²⁺·B5O8(OH)^2-} n , has been synthesized under mild solvothermal conditions in the presence of 1,3-diamino-propane acting as a template. The structure consists of two-dimensional polymeric sheets constructed from [B5O8(OH)]^2- penta-borate anions. Adjacent borate sheets are linked by O - H⋯O hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional framework with channels running along one direction. The propane-1,3-diammonium cations lie within the channels, inter-acting with the framework through N - H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
