Abstract

The parameters that control or limit the luminance and luminous efficiency of a plasma display panel (PDP) cell were discussed. The geometry of the cell and the electrode design were the key parameters for improving the energy deposition in the discharge and the photon collection. The luminous efficiency of commercially available PDPs was increased from 1 lm/W to 2 lm/W.
