Abstract

The experiments were conducted on a turbocharged DI diesel engine fueled with biodiesel B100, pure diesel fuel, the blend fuel of diesel fuel and biodiesel B20 to investigate the physical & chemical characteristics of its PM emission (including morphology, number concentration and composition). The results indicate that compared with diesel engine, the PM emitted from the biodiesel engine is about the same on morphology, but its BET specific area, the proportion of VOF and the number concentration are higher, total PAHs decrease, but the PAHs with 5 rings and BaP increase. It is found that the element S appears in PM from diesel engine.
