Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a photonic method to generating wideband and high-linearity chirped microwave waveforms using a Fourier domain mode-locked opto-electronic oscillator incorporated with a voltage-controlled oscillator. A linearly chirped microwave waveform with a bandwidth as large as 9 GHz and a linearity as high as 1.22% is generated.
