Abstract
The performance monitoring of optical transmit unit (OTU) dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical networks was realized. The transmit wavelength, optical power and biased current can be monitored at arbitrary time through the micro-control unit. The alarms can be brought into effect and the lasers can be regulated automatically when the laser performance is abnormal. The experiments of 16 × 10 Gb/s for the system were carried out with the power penalty less than 2 dB (bit error rate=10-10).
