Abstract

Some old perforation models to a thin plate target are not applied to the perforation of a high long-to-diameter (L/D) rod to the thin plate target. According to some advisable hypothesis, the perforation model about the high L/D rod with an attack angle to the thin plate target was established. And based on some relevant computational conditions, the limit penetration velocity and the residual velocity were analyzed and computed after the thin plate targets are penetrated by some rods with the same length and the different diameters under conditions of different landing velocity. At last, it is showed that the errors compared between the computed results of the model and the numerical simulation results are small. So the model can be applied to engineering computation.
