Abstract
The detonation test of PBX-C10 was made to explore its dynamic response characteristics under quasi-isentropic loading. An one-dimensional initiation response test system was established by the magnetic compression device CQ-4 and the multiplexed photonic Doppler velocimetry. The detonation growth rule of explosive at 12.7-17.2 GPa was studied. Results show that the waveforms of particle velocities obtained are clean, and their details are clear. After the quasi-isentropic loading enters into the explosive, a precursor shock wave is formed by the chasing and convergence of quasi-isentropic waves. And the initiation mechanism of explosive under quasi-isentropic loading has obvious difference from that under shock loading. Before the formation of the strong precursor shockwave, few hot-spots are formed and no reaction occurs in the explosive. Otherwise, the response of the explosive performs as the characters of initiation and detonation dominated by the hotspot initiation mechanism after the strong shock wave is formed. The explosives which have lower densities will be more aggressive than those which have higher densities.
