Abstract

The effect of CO2 oxidized carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on the performance of electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs) was studied. CO 2 oxidation increased the specific area and improved the dispersity of CNTs. Specific capacitance of the polarizable electrodes in EDLCs based on the oxidized CNTs were obviously improved and the maximum specific capacitance, of 47 F/g was obtained. CO2 oxidizing CNTs is hence an effective way to improve the performances of EDLCs based on the CNT electrodes.
