Abstract

Nowadays, more and more mobile hosts have multiple network interfaces, through which the hosts can connect to different ISPs and access the Internet. In this situation, there are multiple paths between the mobile hosts and the Internet. The cost and performance of these paths depends on the ISP charging strategy and the network communication capability. This paper models the communication between mobile hosts and the Internet, and then proposes a flow distribution method for optimizing cost and performance based on available path exploration. At the end, simulation on the method is presented. Compounded with other methods, our method can better distribute and control traffic flow according to the mobile hosts's needs for cost and performance.
