title = "Optimization and Comparison Analysis of the Alvarez Lens and Two-Solid-Group Varifocal Lens",
abstract = "The Alvarez lens is a type of varifocal lens that adjusts its focal length by moving two lenses in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis. The optimization and comparison analysis of the Alvarez lens and two-solid-group varifocal lens are carried out in this paper. To realize the change the range of the focal length from 25 mm to 75 mm, the axial length of the Alvarez system is 5.60 mm, and that of the two-solid-group lens is 8.24 mm. The length of the Alvarez lens is only 68\% of the two-solid-group varifocal lens. The two-solid-group lens needs to move 6.388 mm along the axial direction, while the Alvarez lens only needs to move 1.065 mm. The imaging performance of the Alvarez lens is observed to surpass that of the two-solid-group varifocal lens. The results that comparing the the two-solid-group lens, the Alvarez lens can shorten the axial length of the varifocal lens while ensuring the image quality, and a small shifting displacement is required.",
