Abstract

Pattern division multiple access (PDMA) is one of the important candidate multiple access technologies for future 5G wireless communication systems. It can improve the spectral efficiency and support the massive connection based on the reasonable unequal diversity between users. This paper investigates the outage performance and achievable sum data rate of uplink PDMA system. The developed analytical results and numerical simulation results show that PDMA can achieve more superior performance than the performance of orthogonal multiple access (OMA).
