Abstract

Based on the two dimensionless parameters proposed by the author early, i.e. impact function I and geometry function of projectile N, the present paper systemically introduces the research work done by the author and his collaborators in the area of penetration/perforation of concrete target struck by rigid projectiles, including dimension analysis, deep penetration and shallow impact of concrete targets, normal/oblique perforation of plain concrete panels, as well as the normal perforation of reinforced concrete. A detailed comparison between the theoretical prediction and the popular empirical formulae is presented.
