Numerical study on combustion of aluminum particle and nucleation of combustion product

Abstract

On the basis of the related experimental data and the combustion mechanism of the light metals, the combustion details of aluminum particle were studied. Moreover, the comprehensive model, which describes both the combustion process of aluminum particle and the nucleation process of its combustion product, was established. With the diffusional combustion model of metal combustion and heterogeneous product nucleation mechanism, the average particle sizes of the product in aluminum combustion were calculated. With the calculated results, the distribution characteristics in the reaction area and the average particle size of the product were also studied.
