Abstract

Fragmentation warhead is widely used in modern war. To explore the important role of fragment movement in improving damage efficiency of warhead, a numerical simulation of dynamic response process under blast loading of controlled fragmenting warhead was conducted by the EXPLOSION-3D software. The simulation results are in good agreement with theoretical calculation. Based on this, fragment formation of controlled fragmenting warheads with different notches was analyzed. The numerical method presented in this paper can provide a useful reference for design of this kind of warheads.
