Numerical investigation of resistance characteristic for submunition with hat shape fin

Abstract

This paper proposes a distinguishing design plansubmunition with hat shape fin, aiming to investigate its retardation effect. Based on the aerodynamic model established under environment of ICEM CFD, the resistance coefficient for subsonic fall of the submunition is calculated by computer, then the trajectory equations are calculated, the results indicate that hat shape fin can effectively slow the falling speed of smart submunition after being dispersed forward.
