Numerical Calculation and Coordinate Control of Industrial Robot Arm for Virus Detection

Abstract

Industrial robots are widely employed across various domains due to their ability to operate in harsh environments. Notably, robots can perform assorted detection tasks in enclosed spaces for highly contagious viruses. This study aims to enhance the coordinate control of industrial robot arm effectors to facilitate virus detection in confined settings. To address bending deformations during operation, we propose a novel auxiliary support device. Modeling and data analysis methods were utilized in this research. The results demonstrate that the support device significantly reduces system stresses and overall deformation compared to the original robots. Specifically, the maximum von Mises stress decreased to 43.26% of the original value, while deformation at the detection device reduced to 6.353% of the initial level. These findings validate the effectiveness of our support device in improving coordinate accuracy for virus detection. Additionally, the support device possesses advantages of simplicity, ease of use, low cost and maintainability. This research provides a simple and effective solution for adjusting the end coordinates of industrial robots under harsh working conditions, and has high applicability in similar industrial environments.
