Abstract

The optimization of excitation wave in testing the anchoring quality of partially grouted bolt is investigated in this research. A finite element model was built to numerically analyze the anchoring quality of partially grouted bolt. The optimum mesh size of the finite element model was determined for numerical simulation under excitation wave with different frequency and the optimum excitation wave could be found for particular partially grouted bolt. By using the optimum excitation wave, the reflective waves from upper interface and bottom end could be observed clearly on the top of the rock bolt. Simulation of the deficient grouted bolt shows that the deficient part could be observed clearly when the optimum excitation wave is used. The results of this research indicate that the selected optimum excitation wave could be directly used to test the anchoring quality of grouted bolt and it is helpful to the real engineering project.
