Abstract

The equivalent circuit model for electromagnetic band-gap structure (EBG) is analyzed in this paper, and also the methods of broadening the bandwidth of band-gap are studied. A novel method, which is called 'United Cells Method', to broaden the bandwidth of band-gap of EBG structure is proposed. The correction and validity are confirmed, by the results of software-simulations and experiments, using mushroom-like EBG structure with spiracle inductance on patches. This method gives a novel mind to broaden the bandwidth of EBG structures.
