Abstract

The random response of an industry cooling tower shell structure under the action of strong wind loads is analyzed, of which the geometric nonlinearity of the structure is taken into consideration. The statistical perturbation method is used to analyze some statistic characteristics of the nonlinear random response of the rotational shell. Numerical simulation for the hyperbolic cooling tower shell structure is performed, and some average values of normal displacements and the nonlinear effect factor of the cooling tower shell are given. It is shown that the geometric nonlinearity should be considered for large wind load.
