Abstract
A new infrared system evaluation metric, the targeting task performance (TTP), is analyzed that becomes the most accurate target acquisition criteria. Ascribed to the explanation for TTP theoretic evidence, the essential difference from the Johnson criteria is the proposed definition called system contrast threshold function and the integral strategy to all valid frequency spectrum perceptive on eye. The experiment procedure of how to transfer the TTP metric to target performance probability is introduced. The predominance of TTP metric, compared with the Johnson criteria, is extracted in terms of the basic modeling principle and the experimental data.
