Abstract
The monostatic equivalent geometry model of bistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is discussed and an extended ETF imaging algorithm for bistatic SAR is proposed. Compared with the conventional monostatic ETF algorithm, the azimuth focusing phase functions, calculated with the parameters of bistatic imaging geometry, are adopted in this algorithm. The procedures and efficiency of this approach are the same as the ETF algorithm for the monostatic SAR and without any interpolations. The limitation of the proposed approach is also discussed. The algorithm was validated through point target simulations.
