Abstract

Regulating the high-pressure combustion performance and reducing the burning rate-pressure exponent of NEPE propellant are the hot research directions at home and abroad. However, there are few reports on the high-pressure combustion performance of NEPE propellant abroad. In this paper, the research progress of combustion model of NEPE propellant is briefly reviewed, and the research results of domestic scholars and the authors’team on the high-pressure combustion performance of NEPE propellant are summarized from five aspects:bonding system, oxidant, nitramine explosive, aluminum powder and combustion performance modifier. The burning rate-pressure relationship of NEPE propellant shows inflection points under high pressure, which is mainly related to the reaction between oxidant and nitramine explosive,as well as aluminum powder. Several kinds of combustion performance modifiers widely used in NEPE propellant are also listed in this paper. Studying new combustion performance modifiers and enhancing the effect of combustion performance modifiers by means of nanocrystallization, compounding, and loading are effective methods to regulate the high-pressure combustion performance of NEPE propellant.
