Abstract
Violet electroluminescence is indispensable for wide color gamut and full color displays. Exploring available, cheaper, and easier processing narrow-band violet light-emitting materials is urgent for developing violet light-emitting diodes (VLEDs). We report here the first thin film of one-dimensional (1D) lead bromide (5-MBI)PbBr3 (5-MBI = 5-methylbenzimidazole) for narrow-band VLEDs. The film was prepared by simple spin-coating method, exhibiting extremely narrow-band violet emission which peaks at 430 nm with a full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 10 nm and good color rendering in LED devices. This work proposes that one-dimensional metal halides are promising violet light-emitting materials for developing narrow-band VLEDs.
