Abstract

Developments of medical technologies have been allowed a minimally invasive surgery. However, higher techniques are required to surgeons in such minimally invasive surgeries. A surgical simulator takes lots of attention to improve doctors' operation skills and develop new medical instruments. This study makes new artificial dura mater models with similar mechanical characteristics of actual dura mater for brain surgery. The dura mater models were prepared by combining elastic rubber materials and fabric materials. The mechanical characteristics of fabricated dura mater models were compared with porcine dura mater and evaluated quantitatively.
